About Dr. Shapiro
Dr. Shapiro was born in New York City, and raised in White Plains, NY. After graduating college, he attended the California School of Professional Psychology (now Alliant University) in Berkeley, CA, where he received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Shapiro decided to make St. Louis home. Dr. Shapiro has been in St. Louis for over 30 years.
Quantum Behavioral, LLC was started as a 100% telehealth private practice in 2022. He sees patients across the country as a member of PsyPact. Dr. Shapiro is sought out for his common-sense, practical, solution-focused style based in principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy.
In addition to his full-time clinical practice, Dr. Shapiro is an Adjunct Instructor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine where he lectures to future psychiatrists on cognitive-behavioral strategies to address obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and panic disorder, interviewing skills, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Also at Washington University, Dr. Shapiro is a lead therapist at the Healthy Mind Lab, studying the effects of psychedelic medicine on mental health challenges and is a clinical advisor for the Center for Holistic Interdisciplinary Research in Psychedelics (CHIRP).
